Film Poster Ideas:
For my brief as well as creating a film trailer and a magazine front cover, I also have to create a film poster, and I have come up with several different ideas for my film poster.
Idea 1: My first idea was to have the couple facing each other, and hugging each other, she has her leg up, which is what people do when they are happy in a relationship, signifying that she is happy, but there will be a black cloud above them, which are seen in cartoons with the black cloud above their heads, and this conveys to the audience that something is going to happen to affect their relationship badly, and this intrigues the audience as they want to know what it is, and it helps the poster retain enigma as it doesn't reveal what it is, and if it splits them up. The image will be a long shot of them, and they will be wearing normal clothes, but nice smart clothes, but he will be wearing a red shirt, signifying how there is danger, and she will also be holding the red rose seen in the trailer, and also on the front cover. The name of the film will be at the top of the poster, in black italic font, and the names of the actors will also be in black, reflecting the name of the film.
Idea 2: This is just the woman on her own, and it is a long shot of her holding a photo frame, and in the photo frame is a picture of her and the man from the trailer smiling and looking happy, and she will be holding this and at the bottom of the shot will be the rose from the front cover. She will be wearing a nice smart, black dress, and as black connotes death, it subtly conveys that there is a death of something, the relationship, she will also be staring straight to camera, as it connects with the audience and makes them feel sympathy for her. The title of the film will also reflect the colour of her dress, and will be in black italic, and the rest of the poster will also be in the theme of black and white, but the only thing in colour will be the photo in the frame, suggesting how her life was bright, and happy but now it is dark and black.
Idea 3: The third idea has both the man and the woman on the poster, and it is a long shot of them. The pair are stood back to back with her looking towards the camera, and him looking at her, she will be wearing smart clothes, and he will be wearing a red shirt, connoting danger. The rose will also be on the floor at their feet, linking the poster and cover together, and the woman's pose will be quite distant from him and like she is trying to get away from him, conveying how something has happened to upset her, and in turn intriguing the audience. The title of the film will go at the top of the poster, in black italic font, and the names of the actors in the film will also be at the top of the poster above the name of the film.
Logo: There will be a form of persuasive language on the poster, which is a convention of film posters, as they usually have a logo reflecting the film on the poster. The logo will reflect the theme of the trailer, and will be 'sometimes love is not a dream', as it reflects the name 'Love's Young Dream', and it conveys that something is going to happen to affect their relationship, which will interest the audience, and it also retains enigma, as it doesn't say what is going to affect their relationship.
Credits: These are a convention of film posters, and are usually at the bottom of the poster, and this is were I will put the credits on my film poster.
