Film Poster Ideas:
For my brief as well as creating a film trailer and a magazine front cover, I also have to create a film poster, and I have come up with several different ideas for my film poster.
Idea 1: My first idea was to have the couple facing each other, and hugging each other, she has her leg up, which is what people do when they are happy in a relationship, signifying that she is happy, but there will be a black cloud above them, which are seen in cartoons with the black cloud above their heads, and this conveys to the audience that something is going to happen to affect their relationship badly, and this intrigues the audience as they want to know what it is, and it helps the poster retain enigma as it doesn't reveal what it is, and if it splits them up. The image will be a long shot of them, and they will be wearing normal clothes, but nice smart clothes, but he will be wearing a red shirt, signifying how there is danger, and she will also be holding the red rose seen in the trailer, and also on the front cover. The name of the film will be at the top of the poster, in black italic font, and the names of the actors will also be in black, reflecting the name of the film.
Idea 2: This is just the woman on her own, and it is a long shot of her holding a photo frame, and in the photo frame is a picture of her and the man from the trailer smiling and looking happy, and she will be holding this and at the bottom of the shot will be the rose from the front cover. She will be wearing a nice smart, black dress, and as black connotes death, it subtly conveys that there is a death of something, the relationship, she will also be staring straight to camera, as it connects with the audience and makes them feel sympathy for her. The title of the film will also reflect the colour of her dress, and will be in black italic, and the rest of the poster will also be in the theme of black and white, but the only thing in colour will be the photo in the frame, suggesting how her life was bright, and happy but now it is dark and black.
Idea 3: The third idea has both the man and the woman on the poster, and it is a long shot of them. The pair are stood back to back with her looking towards the camera, and him looking at her, she will be wearing smart clothes, and he will be wearing a red shirt, connoting danger. The rose will also be on the floor at their feet, linking the poster and cover together, and the woman's pose will be quite distant from him and like she is trying to get away from him, conveying how something has happened to upset her, and in turn intriguing the audience. The title of the film will go at the top of the poster, in black italic font, and the names of the actors in the film will also be at the top of the poster above the name of the film.
Logo: There will be a form of persuasive language on the poster, which is a convention of film posters, as they usually have a logo reflecting the film on the poster. The logo will reflect the theme of the trailer, and will be 'sometimes love is not a dream', as it reflects the name 'Love's Young Dream', and it conveys that something is going to happen to affect their relationship, which will interest the audience, and it also retains enigma, as it doesn't say what is going to affect their relationship.
Credits: These are a convention of film posters, and are usually at the bottom of the poster, and this is were I will put the credits on my film poster.

Front Cover Ideas:
For my A2 project I have to also create a front cover for a magazine, it is a cover for a film magazine, and it will advertise my film. I have come up with several different ideas which I feel relate to my film trailer, and advertise my film trailer.
Idea 1: My first idea for a front cover was to have the woman from my trailer alone on the cover, and it would be a medium shot of her, I would also have her in a wedding dress to reflect the scene of the trailer when he asks her to marry him. It would be a white wedding dress, and I did initially think of having make up running down her face, and black make up all on her cheeks, but then I thought that would give away the story of the trailer and I am hoping to retain some enigma in my trailer, which is a convention of trailers. I then changed my mind and decided not to have her make up down her face, as it would be to obvious, and she would just have normal make up, but would be holding a red rose, which is from a scene on the trailer, when she picks up the rose from the pillow. As I am doing a romcom trailer I want the front cover to reflect the genre of the trailer, so I am going to have cover lines reflecting the genre, and consisting of romcom films, actors who represent the genre of romcom, and some interviews with romcom actors such as Hugh Grant, as he is associated with the genre of romcoms. The other conventions of a film cover such as the title, main cover line, smaller images these will also represent the genre of romcoms to reflect my trailer.
Idea 2: The second idea involves both the man and the woman from the trailer on the front cover, and I think I am going to use the idea of them both on the trailer as it appeals to both men and women, and therefore widens my audience range. I would have them both stood facing each other, and again like my first idea it would be a medium shot of them together. As they're stood face to face I would have him staring at her and holding on to her, almost like he won't let go of her, and I would have her staring straight to camera, with a sad, puzzled face, which would instantly make the readers warm to her, which is what I want as I want the audience to warm to her, and for them to be quite judgemental on him. I would also position her so it looks like she is trying to move away from him, and distance herself from him, so it conveys to the audience that something has happened to make her like this, and I want it to intrigue the audience and make them want to watch the film, and the image also reflects the story of the trailer as something happens in the trailer to make her distant from him, and the image reflects this, and it also retains enigma as it doesn't give away what happened, and it also doesn't give away whether they stay together or split up. For their clothes I am just going to have them in quite normal clothes, but I am going to have him in a red t shirt, representing how he is dangerous to her and their relationship, and it is a convention of film as red is associated with danger.
Idea 3: This idea is similar to idea 2 in that it has the man and woman on the front cover, and it is also a medium shot of the couple. The woman will be facing towards camera and staring straight in the camera, and she will also be holding the rose, which will also be on the film poster, and will be a theme connecting the trailer, poster and cover together, and he will also be facing towards camera behind her, and he will be hugging her and looking at her, and like idea 2 he will be wearing a red shirt, which signifies danger, and how he is dangerous to her. Her pose will also be similar to idea 2 in that she will seem very distant, and almost like she is trying to get away from him, and this image will also retain enigma as it doesn't give away if they're have split up or are still together, which in turn keeps the audience interested in the film.
Cover lines: As my trailer is a romcom I want cover lines that will reflect the genre of the trailer, and will appeal to my target audience of women from around the ages of 18-35. I have come up with some ideas for my front cover such as; an exclusive interview with Jennifer Anniston about her career and love life, and also interviews with Gerard Butler and Hugh Grant, and as these actors are associated with romcoms they're appropriate for the front cover, and also top ten romcoms of the decade, Katherine Heigl discusses new film, and also Patrick Dempsey discusses new film, and these actors are again associated with romcoms, therefore making them suitable.
Masthead/names: I have come up with a few names, that reflect that the magazine is a film magazine;

- Cut
- FilmStop
- FilmTime
- NewFilm
- MotionFilm
Front Cover diagrams:
These are the several different ideas I came up with for myfront cover, and they include the image what will be on the front cover, the cover lines on the cover, the masthead, and extras that are sometimes on a cover such as posters, or win tickets to something such as a film premier, but unfortunately the scanner didn't show all of my work so I did another post for my front cover ideas.
Animatic:
This is my Animatic for my film trailer, and it includes the three songs I am having on my trailer, but in some sections of my Animatic it is silent, and that is because when there are taglines, I will have a female voice over on my trailer saying them, and I will also have the female voice over at the end saying the name of the film and release date, and when it is silent and it has the characters on it is because they're speaking in this scene.
Also when I was making the Animatic, I decided to change my original idea of having a male voice over. I know it is a convention of romcoms to have a male voice over, as seen on 'Bridget Jones Diary', but I feel having a female voice over will be better suited to my trailer, and my audience, as with a female voice-over, it is like she is speaking about all women, and the audience can relate to what she is saying and connect with her, as they may have gone through that, and I now see it is quite unusual for a man to have to say 'every girl dreams of finding Mr Right', as when he says it the audience won't relate to what he is saying as he is male, and therefore may not want to see the film.
I began filming on November 10th, and I changed my original idea of having my characters meeting at a bust stop. I changed this as we attempted to film it, but it was too difficult as there was people at the bus stop, and while we were filming it the bus came, and also the bus stop is very ear to the road, and you can hear the cars, and see the cars and lorries going by, and I know that adds to the verisimilitude of the trailer, but it made it very difficult to film so I decided to change it. I changed it to a long shot of the female character Sarah walking down the street, and the male character Alex bumps into her, and then we go to a tagline and the next shot is him helping her, and them looking at each other, and it is almost a cliche as this is featured in romcoms, and the shot is of them looking into each others eyes, which represents the genre of romcom, as it is romantic but quite cheesy, and that is what most romcoms are. The shot also has her in a red coat, and I thought this would be almost a warning to the audience what is going to happen, as red is a code used for danger, and it suggests danger, that something is going to happen to them.

Images for trailer:
I have also took some other shots, which are not in my trailer but I thought the shots looked quite good, and would go with my theme, so I may add them to the final trailer. I took some shots of swings, as that is a cliche, pushing your partner on swings, so I decided to take some shots. I took shots of the swings alone, and these were long shots, and then I took some with my friend in the shots, and I took long shots as well as medium shots, to get a wider range.
I also took some shots of the street, as I have him walking down the street in one shot, so I took some test shots of the street.
I also took some shots of a computer, as we have several shots of her at a computer, so I took a medium shot of a computer, to see what it would looked like.
Images for trailer:
As I have taken pictures of the park for my trailer, I also took some pictures of park benches, and other benches as there are a few shots of the couple sat on a bench, and they also meet while sat on a bench, so I took a few pictures of it, to see how it would look for my trailer. At first I took pictures of just the park bench, to see how it would fit in the trailer, and to see how the background behind the bench would look in the trailer, and to see if it was appropriate. I took some long shots of the bench, to see how the background would look in my trailer. I also took some medium shots of the trailer, as it will be a medium shot of the couple sat on the bench.
I then took some pictures of the bench with my friend in it, to see how it would look with a character in it, as my cast were unavailable I did use a friend who would not be in my trailer for the shots, but it was to see if it would be suitable with a character in it, and to see if it suited my idea, although she is not in my trailer, it still helped me to see how the shots would look with my actual cast in the scene. I took medium shots of her on the bench, as the scene will be a medium shot, so I took these shots as it helped me understand what my final scene will be like, but I did take a few long shots, to have a range of shots and to see which one looked better.
Images:
After I had taken these shots, I decided to take some shots with my friend in, to see how the shots would look with a person in them, and to see if it would look good in my trailer with the characters in the shot. As the people who are in my trailer were unavailable to take these shots, but are still able to do the trailer, I decided to put my friend in the shots, as it would still allow me to see if these shots were suitable for my trailer, and although she is not in my trailer, it did help me in understanding how I was going to put these shots in my trailer, and helped me understand what they would be like with characters in them. I took some long shots first of her, as in my scenes with the park they do involve long shots.
As I am creating a film trailer, I decided to take some test images of my locations, as it will help me understand how my trailer will look like, and also it allows me to see whether the locations I have chosen will be suitable for my trailer, and will work with the idea of my trailer. As I have several shots taking place outside in the park, I took test shots of my local park, to see if it would work with the idea for my trailer. At first I took pictures of just the location, to see what it would look like on its own. These are the shots I took of the park, I took establishing shots and long shots, as in my shots I will be taking some long shots, and I wanted to see what the background of the park would look like.
I then took some extra pictures of some hills in the park, and other shots of the park, as this is where I will put the picnin my characters have, and I wanted to see what the park would look like with the scene, and is it is suitable for the scene.
I also took some medium shots of her, as in my scene's in the park it does involve medium shots, as when they are walking it goes from a long shot to a medium shot, and when they are having their picnic it will be shot in a medium shot, and also when they're sitting on the park bench that will also be a medium shot.
